Find Your Awesome with Jessica Todd

Jessica Todd Podcast

Jessica Todd: “When you can say no to something that doesn’t feel like a 100% yes in your body, you’re saying yes to yourself.”

Jessica Todd started her career as a hairstylist at age nineteen after dropping out of high school feeling lost and off track. After five and a half years in the industry, she met her business partner in her chair and ended up opening her own salon, Jessica Todd Salon, at age twenty-six. Since then, she has been on a mission to raise those around her through styling and self-development. She’s a healer disguised as a stylist.

Jessica is wicked wise. This episode is for you if you’ve got big dreams (or little dreams), if you’re an entrepreneur, if you want to leap outside your comfort zone, if you want to step into your power, if you want to be your best self, if you want to take care of yourself, if you want to take care of others and/or if you want to rock some epic lipstick.

“I’ve realized that I can’t fully serve others the way that I want to serve them or love up on them unless I’m really loving myself.”

Nuggets:

“It’s a rare occasion when we actually stop, sit down and look at ourselves truly in the mirror.”

“When you have a failure you can continue to dwell in that, to sit in that energy, or you can use it and be like, ‘well, it can only get better from here and I can only push further.’”

“I was choosing to struggle and that was hard for me to come to grips with.”

“If I don’t meet my own needs I can’t be others-focused and I can’t truly serve anybody who I’m trying to serve whether it be a guest who sits in my chair or an employee having an issue or who just needs support or managing up to my business partners.”

“We’re not meant to do any of this by ourselves.”

“Whenever I’m feeling this overwhelming need to do something or control something, I know that that’s when I’m getting off-balance and that’s when I need to take a step back and most of the time really not do something and try to listen and see what’s coming up.”

“I’ve realized that I can’t fully serve others the way that I want to serve them or love up on them unless I’m really loving myself.”

“When you can say no to something that doesn’t feel like a 100% yes in your body, you’re saying yes to yourself.”
